Tour of Elk Grove

The final stage race on the National Race Calendar shaped up to be a competitive one, with a prologue time trial and two criteriums. With the Toyota-United Pro Cycling Team in the thick of a tight battle for the lead in the NRC team standings, it was important for the squad?s six riders to perform well.

Chris Wherry?s seventh-place finish in the opening time trial was only 12 seconds off the winning time. In the final stage, Toyota-United took the front with seven miles to go and set up sprinter Ivan Dominguez.

Dominguez came through in the final 50 meters to win the tight bunch sprint. His victory was worth a good chunk of change?
